Three
of these new rooms will be ready for
occupancy by July first.
Also,
before the end of 1999, our Alaska Room will be
completed. This expansion of the Agate Guest House will allow our
guests to host small meetings, conferences, weddings and
receptions. The Alaska Room was designed to take advantage of the
wooded site and the spectacular mountain views to the north and
south. Harvey will finally have ample space to display the agates,
rocks, fossils and minerals he has been collecting for the past
thirty years.
The
Agate Inn has become a “unique country style inn” with
a variety of accommodation choices for families, groups,
and business travelers.

Reindeer
are domesticated caribou. Reindeer have been herded in Alaska
since late 1880. Family and friends have tried to convince us we
need a pet. So, what better pets for long-time Alaskans
Harvey and Sandy Bowers?
Harvey
has a large fenced area ready for our reindeer friends. But the
two female fawns will need names. Send your suggestions by mail or
email before May 1. Email entries to agate@alaska.net. The winning
suggestion will receive a gift certificate for two nights at the
Agate Inn for a party of up to four people. If multiple entries of
a winning name are submitted, the first entry received will be the
winner. Remember, our reindeer are females. The name, “Rudolph”
doesn’t quite fit!
